DescriptionFormed in 1981, the Field Naturalists Association of Canberra aims to stimulate an interest in natural history through regular meetings and outings. Meetings are held in the division of Botany and Zoology at the ANU on the first Thursday of each month (except January) at 8pm. Expert speakers talk on a wide range of topics related to our natural environment. Recent talks have covered birds, astronomy, plants, insects, fossils, local water issues, and parasites. Outings take place most months and range from day trips to long weekends. The emphasis is on learning, friendliness, informality and fun. Walks are at a leisurely pace as there are always lots of different things being spotted and discussed. New members are always welcome to both meetings and outings.
